JOB CALL | ENGAGEMENT AND MOBILIZATION MANAGER

Digital Arts Resource Centre seeks a talented communications and marketing professional to join our team as our Engagement and Mobilization Manager. The Engagement and Mobilization Manager leads the development and execution of Digital Arts Resource Centre’s (DARC) engagement, mobilization and communications activities and strategies. The Engagement and Mobilization Manager is responsible for annual marketing strategies and campaigns, maintaining a coherent brand identity across all marketing and communications channels as well as identifying key marketing and development opportunities for the organization. The Engagement and Mobilization Manager will develop yearly communications and marketing plans that uniquely and meaningfully engage with DARC membership and the arts community of Ottawa at large. The Engagement and Mobilization manager will seek to engage and create relationships with partners and funding stakeholders in the community. 

This position welcomes an individual with an adventurous approach to engagement, brand and communications, while also rooting these efforts within DARC’s wider vision as artist-run centre, and collaborative systems of support that occur within the wider institution. DARC has recently undergone an incredible rebranding project and we are looking for someone to continue with the new vision for the centre and to increase our organizational reach. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in communications, marketing, digital marketing, public relations or related field and or equivalent, demonstrative professional experience; 
  • 2+ years experience working in a communications/marketing role; at least 1 year of experience working in a management capacity; effective personnel manager; effective liaising with contractors.

Competency Requirements 

  • Strong organizational skills ; ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, make decisions independently, be self-motivated and consistently meet deadlines;
  • Proven strength in written and oral communications, including demonstrated expertise in research, writing, and editing for a variety of purposes and audiences;
  • Experience working in graphic design and managing brand identity and coherency; 
  • Proven ability in designing, implementing and evaluating successful marketing plans, strategies and campaigns; experience developing and implementing promotional plans in support of complex or multi-year projects;
  • Experience in planning, writing, editing and managing the content of websites, with a high degree of familiarity with social media; 
  • Evidence of media relations experience and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with news media; 
  • Proven track record achieving project goals on time and produce deliverables of a high quality
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment; superior internal communications skills, both written and verbal. 

Knowledge Requirements 

  • Strong computer skills and intermediate knowledge of web content management systems;
  • Website management and social media management (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, etc.) and how each platform can be optimally deployed in a given scenario;
  • Intermediate understanding of WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Mailchimp, online analytical tools/performance metrics; 
  • Understanding of basic web design principles, web development processes and SEO; 
  • Experience with video editing softwares within Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, Blender, etc., considered an asset; 
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector considered an asset; 
  • Ability to speak French or a second language is considered a strong asset.

COMPENSATION

Salary: Full-time position (37.5 hours per week), $45,000 per annum

Benefits: Health/Dental coverage (option to sign into plan), 3 weeks of paid vacation (plus two non-negotiable weeks of paid vacation during the holiday closure), generous professional development opportunities (including comped DARC workshops), comped access to DARC equipment, opportunities to travel and 10 days of artistic leave per year for full time employees. 

This position is available as a hybrid remote-onsite role.  All staff must make themselves available to be onsite as requested by management or as required by their duties outlined above. Occasional after hours, weekend and offsite attendance will be required as necessary for programming events as well as some staff travel and development opportunities that may take place remotely on evenings and or weekends. The Engagement and Mobilization Manager will hold a Monday-Friday schedule.
