Recording Studio Orientation

November 28th, 2023

5:00 - 7:00 PM EDT

Join us for an orientation session on November 28th from 5 to 7 pm, and become familiar with the recording studio‘s control room and recording booth. Our team is here to teach you how to operate the studio and support your creations. Expect a run-through of essential hardware, software, and basic setup and tear-down. Most importantly, we want to hear about your projects, and how we can assist you.

To reserve your spot, email tech@digitalartsresourcecentre.ca. To give you the best learning experience, this orientation is limited to 5 individuals. We offer this orientation once a month based on demand. This event is open to all DARC members, and anyone interested in joining our centre.

Tech Coordinator Mel Gosselin will facilitate this orientation session. Mel is a French-Canadian artist from Ottawa. Their musical background is in classical piano as well as choral ensembles. More recently, they have delved into music composition and improvisation. They have a special interest in the unique sound quality of spaces as well as black-and-white film photography. They graduated from the Music Industry Arts program at Algonquin College in August 2022

Assisting Mel is member Dereck Bassa who has been a member of DARC since 2019, he is a music producer and photographer currently working on his upcoming debut single Water 7!

Digital Arts Resource Centre (formerly SAW Video) is a not-for-profit, artist-run media art centre that fosters the growth and development of artists through access to equipment, training, mentorship, and programming. Our mission is to support a diverse community of media artists empowered by technology, programming and the exchange of ideas.

Our core principles are independence of expression, affordable access to all, and paying artists for their work. Digital Arts Resource Centre values diversity and actively promotes equity for all artists regardless of race, age, class, gender, sexual orientation, language, or ability.

We acknowledge that Digital Arts Resource Centre is located on land that is part of the unceded and unsurrendered Traditional Territory of the Algonquin people. We honour the Algonquin people and elders, whose ancestors have occupied this territory since time immemorial, and whose culture has nurtured and continues to nurture this land and its people.
