In this two session workshop, we’ll explore electromagnetic induction – its connection to the paranormal, and its history in sound art. In the first session, we’ll consider how electromagnetic microphones have contributed to our ability to audibly perceive the “other side”. We’ll also be using electromagnetic mics to listen to and collect our own otherworldly sounds. In the second session, we’ll learn to edit and arrange our recordings into a sonic composition or collage.
This workshop uses Ableton Live but participants using their own devices are welcome to use any digital audio workstation they feel comfortable with. This workshop will provide an overview of Ableton Live and participants will learn how to develop a workflow and to edit and arrange audio clips.
