The Playbook: A Creative’s Guide to Entrepreneurship

The Playbook is designed to teach young, aspiring creatives how to get started in entrepreneurship.

Overview

From launching her agency with only $500 and a smile to helping founders build million-dollar brands, Sarah-Jane Gwira, a seasoned professional with 7 years of diverse experience in digital marketing, sales and entrepreneurship, uses her own field research to share stories, humour, and real-world examples of how to start a business with whatever you’ve got.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will:

  • Create actionable steps to starting a business (with little to no money)
  • Understand how to make sure your customers care about what you’re selling.
  • Reflect on their experience to decide how to approach entrepreneurship in line with their unique strengths and interests

Instructor

Sarah-Jane Gwira is an agency founder with 7+ years in digital marketing & Facebook Ads. Her work has helped clients generate more than $5M in additional revenue. Today, SJ works in enterprise sales supporting growth into Fortune 500 companies. In her own time, she shares her experience with aspiring entrepreneurs at Business in the Streets, a registered charity which makes entrepreneurship accessible for young people. Most proudly, SJ wears the title of dog mom to her chihuahua mix, Humpert.

Accessibility

All doors at DARC have accessibility buttons to press for automatic entry. DARC is located on the main floor (one story above ground) of the Arts Court building. DARC’s main entrance is located at 67 Nicholas Street which is fully wheelchair accessible. Alternate wheelchair-accessible entry is available through 2 Daly Ave at the Arts Court main entrance or the Ottawa Art Gallery. Elevator access is available from 9AM – 11PM.
