POSITION: Operations Assistant – Digital Arts Resource Centre (DARC)
CONTRACT TERM: 26 Weeks
DESIRED START DATE: June 22, 2026*
END DATE: December 18, 2026
WORK SCHEDULE: 4 business days / 32 hours per week
LOCATION: 2 Daly Ave. (Arts Court) – in-office 4 days a week

SUMMARY: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below). This position reports to the Administrative Manager and supports the administrative operations of the centre’s programming.
We are going to be working on an exciting archival project of the SAW Video Mediatheque during the timeline of this contact.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports DARC by performing administrative and operational tasks that focus on building membership capacity, workshop registrations, facility bookings for The Loop and Microcinema, and general membership support as needed.
- Performs administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, emails and responding to walk-in inquiries, invoicing and processing payments.
- Performs member orientations, tours and supports member inquiries including support for DARC’s database, AMS.
- Maintains the cleanliness, supplies and organization of DARC’s office, co-working space and member suites, including making sure proper disinfection, PPE and cleaning supplies are available for member’s events and bookings.
- Helps to set up and tear down for public programming events, festivals, receptions, exhibitions, screenings and workshops.
- Supports the programming team by inputting survey feedback, updating guidelines and making information publicly available through signage, website or blogs.
- Provides on-site minor tech support for partner and member events or festivals in DARC facilities as needed or scheduled.
- Outreaches to volunteers and coordinates volunteer hours.
- Assists in supporting capacity for other departments, such as tech and communications as needed.
- Works on special projects or live event programming with co-op students, interns or partners such as archival projects, content creation outreach, and special core programs like the Video Camp for Youth, as needed.
- Supports or works in conjunction with DARC staff for DARC’s annual screening, RESOLUTION, as needed.
- Changes priorities and communicates hurdles or challenges as they arise.
- Brings creative concepts and ideas to meetings and supporting the team by pro-actively implementing notes and changes.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient with Google Business Suite, Asana, QuickBooks Online are desired;
- Knowledge of member databases, or ability to learn about them, is an asset;
- A people person who is positive, responsible, respectful, and enthusiastic;
- Ability to answer questions via email and phone from members, partners and neighbours;
- Well-organized, pro-active, works well under pressure and independently if needed, takes on projects simultaneously and autonomously;
- Knowledge of media art technology and production tools (i.e. equipment, software, open source, etc.) are an asset;
- Passionate about artist-run-centres, Ottawa’s media arts and/or film community is an asset;
- Bilingualism is an asset.

Additional Qualifications Required:
Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:
- An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.
- A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
- Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.
- Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.
- Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.
- Received the Employment Insurance Emergency Response benefit (CERB) within the previous 60 months.
NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.
Remuneration:
$704 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $22.00 based on 4 days/32 hours).
