Côté’s film examines how Indigenous peoples have been impacted by having their traditional names stripped away. Without their original names, people are often left trying to find how they fit in this world. Luckily today, steps are being taken to reclaim their basic right to their true names.
The film was presented in a looping screening alongside the Haida film “SGaawaay K’uuna” at the DARC Microcinema in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2024.
