Mapping Light: An Introduction to Projection Mapping and MadMapper

Mapping Light: An Introduction to Projection Mapping and MadMapper

October 3 & 4, 2026

10 AM - 5 PM

Overview

This workshop offers a focused introduction to projection mapping — the practice of transforming physical surfaces, objects, and architectural spaces into dynamic canvases for light and moving image. Led by El Ekeko (Simón Rojas Gajardo), Canada’s only certified MadMapper Trainer, participants will develop a working understanding of projection mapping theory, creative workflow, and hands-on technical practice using MadMapper, an industry-leading software for projection mapping and media playback.

Designed for media artists and creative practitioners at any level, the workshop balances conceptual grounding with practical application — giving participants the tools and confidence to conceive and execute their own projection mapping projects. A brief introduction to interactive elements will be included for those interested in exploring audience participation and sensor-based triggers.
