Giving Tuesday 2024

How will you support the arts this Giving Tuesday?

Join us for Giving Tuesday on December 3rd, 2024, to support our mission of empowering the next generation of digital artists and storytellers. Your donation will provide vital tools and training for new, emerging, and experienced digital artists to continue creating art through access, resources, and mentorship.

What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a global initiative encouraging people and organizations to donate their time and money to charitable causes (like your local Digital Arts Resource Centre)!

“Across six continents, hundreds of thousands of leaders and millions of people work together to change, and in many cases, transform their communities for the better. The GivingTuesday nucleus supports that local impact through networked leadership development in communities around the world; storytelling and strategic communication that uplifts the impacts of generosity; the deployment of human, financial, and social capital to and throughout the movement; and ultimately, the global ritualization of generosity, which has dramatically increased the rate at which people give and volunteer worldwide. GivingTuesday is invested in communities around the globe with a mandate to propel generosity across every culture, continent, and context.” –givingtuesday.org

DARC has participated in Giving Tuesday annually for several years, and every year, we are absolutely blown away by the support of our amazing digital arts community! With your help, DARC has brought over 8,200 independent productions to life over the past 40+ years, and there’s so much more to come.

Why should I donate?

DARC has been part of the Ottawa media arts scene for over 40 years. Countless media artists, filmmakers, innovators and visionaries have been part of our community in that time. We want to continue offering our programs and resources to the Ottawa media arts community for years to come. To make that possible, we need your help.

Donations will go towards waiving fees for artists facing financial barriers to media arts resources, screening & exhibiting the work of diverse, marginalized artists, paying artists for their work, including their time, labour, and expertise, running workshops for diverse media artists from all backgrounds to develop their skills and creative practices, maintaining the centre so we can continue to support a range of talented artists, and supporting digital artists through the creation process, from idea to execution to finished product!

DARC’s mission is to support the creation of independent digital arts projects and amplify the voices of artists from communities that often go unheard and underrepresented. By donating to DARC, you directly support our work in advancing the world of media arts through technology and opportunities. If you care about the future of art, DARC is the place to invest in. We can’t continue to offer the level of support that we do without your help!

How do I donate?

On Giving Tuesday (December 3rd, 2024), become a DARC Star and support independent artists with a monthly gift, or toss us a few dollars from your tipout – every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a difference! All donations should be made on the CanadaHelps website using the DONATE button below, or by following this link.

All donations for Giving Tuesday can be made through CanadaHelps and will get a tax receipt, as we’re a registered charity!

We can’t wait to see the support of our community on Tuesday, December 3rd. Thank you for all you do to support us in developing the digital arts in Ottawa, Canada, and the world!
