How uOttawa Students can get a FREE DARC Essentials Membership

Students enrolled in the Fine Art or Communications Programs at uOttawa can register for a FREE DARC Essentials Membership 💫

Digital Arts Resource Centre (DARC) offers free membership to uOttawa students registered in the Fine Arts or Communications programs. uOttawa students in other faculties are not eligible for this membership.

WHAT MEMBERSHIP GETS YOU

As Essentials members, students can access DARC’s extensive library of digital art production equipment, including:

  • photo and video cameras
  • lenses and lens accessories
  • tripods and camera support
  • lights and light stands
  • lighting accessories and gels
  • microphones and audio equipment
  • sound systems and mixers
  • field recorders and monitors
  • projectors and projection screens
  • grip equipment
  • and so much more!

Essentials members can also book sessions in the DARC Microcinema, the Recording Booth, and The Loop collaborative workspace.

HOW TO APPLY

Students seeking this membership must complete the membership application form and provide a timetable of their current semester as proof of enrollment.

Intro to Electronic Music Production

Intro to Electronic Music Production explores the basics of electronic music production using the digital audio workstation Ableton Live. Participants will learn how to navigate the interface, select and manipulate sounds and samples, understand fundamental audio effects, and create a short electronic music piece using MIDI. Ableton Live will be available at each workstation, with shared access to MIDI controllers for hands-on experimentation.
