As of April 1, 2025, DARC will eliminate the block booking system and charge an hourly rate for post-production facilities.
DARC will be eliminating the block booking system and charge an hourly rate for post-production facilities as of April 1, 2025. This moves to reflect how members are using/booking our spaces and will provide more consistent billing and invoicing. To make this happen, we will be introducing a new hourly rate. Members will see an increase of approximately $1.33 hourly cumulatively.
Why?
- The math isn’t mathing – using the block booking rate creates odd numbers that are confusing to booking members and staff.
- Our booking system uses an hourly rate.
- The current system doesn’t align with how our members are booking the spaces.
What will change:
Post-production facility rates will change as follows:

Booking requests will now be made using the online platform AMS.
You already have an account using the email address you signed up with to become a Member.
What stays the same:
| Bookings for the DARC Microcinema and The Loop will remain unchanged. |
| Organizational members do not have access to post-production facilities such as the Recording Studio and Edit Suite. Any arrangements to use these spaces must be agreed upon with the Executive Director and/or the Technical Manager. The rates for these facilities are generally 2.5 times the artist hourly rate, or subject to an MOU based on the project’s budget. (i.e artist member pays $8/hour, org member pays $20). |
| A minimum booking is 2 hours. |
| If you don’t use the full time of your booking, you will still be charged the time you booked. If you’re running late for your booking, you may not be able to stay later. |
| A 48-hour notice is required for cancellation unless you are very sick or the circumstances are extreme. |
| Full-day bookings during staffed hours are capped at $50. |
| After-hours bookings during office closures without staff support will be a $30 flat rate (for now). |
| The production facilities (i.e the SOUNDSTAGE) will stay the same. |
