Intro to Independent documentary filmmaking

This workshop will be an introduction to independent documentary filmmaking with an emphasis on how to create a documentary with a very small team and an even smaller budget! We will explore the basics in how to take the first steps into creating a documentary from researching, crafting your narrative, preparing interviews, and securing funding and resources. Students should come prepared to workshop their documentary film ideas as the coursework will help students get started on their films. Additionally, the workshop will center the ethics of documentary filmmaking.

As a follow-up to our March 11 OAC grant information session with Mark Haslam, we are introducing new support to grant applicants! Available and free to DARC members: book one on one time to review your 2021 OAC Media Arts Project application with DARC's Director Annette Hegel. She will be available on March 24, 25, 26 from 4pm to 6pm in 20 minute increments.
