Writing for Comedy

Recurring event see all

June 15 @ 5:00 pm 7:00 pm

Do you want to write the next big comedy? Do you want to write something that brings people joy? Do you dream of writing a movie that won’t get nearly as much respect as a drama and, historically speaking, will have virtually no chance at an Oscar? Well, this is a good place to start. In this two-evening course, you’ll learn some basics about character, structure, and jokes to set you on your path towards comedy screenwriting glory and tens of dollars.

Leonard Chan is a writer/comedian from Toronto, Canada. As a comedian, he has been heard on CBC’s The Debaters, Laugh Out Loud, and Sirius/XM radio and seen on stage at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, the Halifax Comedy Festival, JFL42, StandUp NBC in New York, and Just For Laughs in Montreal. As a writer, he’s spent a little time in the writer’s room for international hit Kim’s Convenience, 16 Hudson, and This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
