DARC Stars
To ensure that DARC is resilient as an organization and can continue to offer its programs and resources to our members for years to come, we are seeking monthly donors, whom we refer to as our DARC Stars. These DARC Stars are incredible people who, through signing up to make a monthly donation of any amount to DARC, are helping to ensure our mission of supporting a diverse community of media artists empowered by technology, programming and the exchange of ideas.
DARC has been part of the Ottawa media arts scene for over 40 years. Countless media artists, filmmakers, innovators and visionaries have been part of our community in that time. We want to continue offering our programs and resources to the Ottawa media arts community for years to come. To make that possible, we need your help.
What is a DARC Star?
DARC Stars are community members who have committed to making a monthly donation of any amount to DARC. This helps to support our mission of empowering a diverse community of media artists through technology, programming, and the exchange of ideas. As a DARC Star, you are a superhero who advocates for diversity and equality for all artists, regardless of race, age, class, gender, sexual orientation, language, or ability.
DARC Stars’ monthly donations go towards:
- Waiving fees for artists facing financial barriers to media arts resources
- Screening & exhibiting the work of diverse, often underrepresented artists
- Paying artists fairly for their work, including their time, labour, and expertise
- Running workshops for media artists from all backgrounds at all skill levels to grow and develop their creative practice and abilities
- Maintaining the centre so we can continue to support a range of talented artists from equity-deserving groups
Why become a DARC Star?
By being a DARC Star, you help to provide affordable access to training, resources, equipment, production and post-production facilities, and more for media artists working on independent projects. DARC Stars allow us to continue providing affordable access to our workshops, screenings and exhibitions.
DARC’s mission is to support the creation of independent digital arts projects and to amplify the voices of artists from communities that so often go unheard and underrepresented. By becoming a DARC Star, you directly support our work to advance the world of media arts through technology and opportunities.
