This two session online workshop will explore a variety of tools and creative techniques for recording, processing, mixing and arranging audio for sound art. In the first session, we’ll consider alternative ways of listening and discuss several key elements of sound art. Participants will collect field recordings and samples to use to experiment with audio manipulation software. In the second session, we’ll edit and arrange our recordings into a sonic composition.
This workshop uses Ableton Live but participants are welcome to use any digital audio workstation they feel comfortable with. This workshop will provide an overview of Ableton Live and participants will learn how to develop a workflow and to edit and arrange audio clips. Participants are encouraged to bring their own audio files but additional audio files will be available to use as well.
