Ayan Tani‘s mission is to make you believe another world is possible. Her method is film, with speculative attention to archives. Over the past four years, Iyore has directed a rich portfolio of films, establishing herself as a key advocate and creative force in the industry.

Her acclaimed documentary, “Cat Got Your Tongue,” which premiered across several provinces, including Toronto, Halifax, Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver, explores linguistic discrimination with a nuanced touch. The film’s insightful portrayal has garnered widespread acclaim and featured discussions on CBC Radio, highlighting its impact. In “Diaspora,” she delves into the complexities of identity and belonging, using each project to probe deeply into the human experience and reflect broader societal themes.

Iyore’s cinematic explorations extend into Afrofuturism, melding cultural heritage with speculative future visions.
